In addition to checkmate, a player wins when his opponent voluntarily folds, as he judges that his defeat is inevitable. Another possible outcome of a game of chess is a draw, which can occur in a number of ways.
It is believed that chess originated in India, before the 7th century AD. The value of pawns was established in Spain in the 15th century, while the rules of the game were finalized in the 19th century. Today chess is played by millions of people around the world, while new types of the game, which differ from the classic in terms of rules, have also become significantly popular.
